Airport hosts introduction to doing business in Poland
Bristol International has teamed up with the Regional Language Network South West to host an event on the 30th October aimed at organisations looking to break into the growing Polish market, or employing Polish people. The initiative comes following an explosion of Polish routes from the airport, with 23 weekly flights scheduled to seven different cities this winter.
An estimated 130,000 passengers are expected to fly between Poland and the South West over the coming months, with a significant proportion travelling on business as the economy of the ‘New Europe’ continues to grow. With 50,000 Polish workers already in the region, the services are also likely to promote regular visits from friends and family members back home.
To help businesses gain maximum benefit from the new connections, Bristol International is hosting a free Regional Language Network event with the support of UK Trade & Investment. The morning workshop features a taster of the Polish language, a briefing on Polish business culture, and a case-study from an organisation experienced in doing business in Poland. A Polish-style breakfast buffet will be served, and delegates will also have the chance to win tickets to the four Polish destinations set to be launched by Ryanair in November.
Dr Peter Gold, RLN SW Director for the West of England and Head of Department of Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies at UWE said: “The expansion of routes to Poland from Bristol International is a tremendous business opportunity for the West of England so the Regional Language Network South West is delighted to be co-hosting this key event. We will be showing firms how to best capitalise on the huge growth in the Polish market through improved communications using language and cultural understanding.”
Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development Director at Bristol International Airport, said:
“The South West now has direct flights to the north, south, east and west of Poland, and this provides business in the region with an unparalleled opportunity to strengthen links with this fast-growing economy. The Regional Language Network event will provide priceless tips on working with Poles, including a taster of what is an increasingly useful business language.”
Bristol International’s Polish destinations in full are Gdansk, Warsaw, Krakow (all easyJet) and Katowice, Poznan, Rzeszow and Wroclaw (all Ryanair).
‘Doing Business in Poland and Working with Polish People’ takes place on Tuesday 30 October 2007, from 8.30am – 11.45am at Bristol International Airport.
