Translation competition now open

11 September 2008

Following the success of last year's contest, The European Commission Translation Department are holding Juvenes Translatores 2008 - a competition open to seventeen-year-olds from schools across the EU.

All pupils born in 1991 are eligible to take part in this year's contest, where they will have to translate from original texts written in any of the EU's twenty-three official languages.

One winner from each Member State will be invited to attend the award ceremony in Brussels in early 2009, where they will have the chance to meet some of the Commission's staff translators.

The contest will take place on 27 November 2008.

To enter the competition schools will need to register on the Juvenes Translatores website between 01 September and 20 October 2008. Participating schools will then be randomly selected and invited to register up to four pupils by 12 November 2008.

For more information please visit the Juvenes Translatores website.
