Mary Boughton from Dorwest Herbs Ltd shares their language success with the RLN SW:

Technical information requires accurate translation

'We export our range of veterinary herbal medicines to 18 countries worldwide. Accurately translating product literature proved difficult initially as much of the content is technical and includes terms specific to animal husbandry. It is important that the correct terminology is used to provide a professional andcredible image to the company's representation abroad.

'Dorwest's approach was to work with their overseas distributors in translating information so as to ensure tht this information was accurate and appropriate for each country's needs and culture. This has been very successful.

'It ensured information was correct, enabled each distributor to tailor their literature in line with the products being imported and also as a key in them obtaining essential product knowledge during the process. Product information is currently available in the native language for customers in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway and Portugal with others in the course of preparation. The result has been a steady increase in export sales worldwide and during the next year Dorwest expect their range to also be available in Lithuania, Ukraine, New Zealand and Kuwait.'
