Dream Cottages

Dream Cottages is a self-catering accommodation agency based in the historic Hope Square at Brewers Quay in Weymouth. The company is taking its first steps into the international tourism market, assisted by the UKTI Passport to Export course.

RLN SW has been helping Joy Sangster-Keeble, Sales and Marketing Manager, to internationalise the revised company website with home pages in Dutch, German and French.

Dream Cottages is lucky to have a member of staff who studied French at school, and access to speakers of other languages amongst its contacts.

RLN SW introduced the company to Loraine Morris of Dorset Council Council Tourism Department, who arranges foreign press visits to the area. Dream Cottages offered visiting Dutch journalists complimentary seafront accommodation in Weymouth at the end of October, when the party enjoyed lovely weather for their stay. Jurassic Coast information leaflets were provided in Dutch and the company is now awaiting a write up in the Dutch travel press.

The company is one of a growing number of tourism businesses to realise the potential of international visitors to the area, both for the 2012 Olympics and to enjoy the Jurassic Coast and beautiful Dorset landscape. As Joy said “The cost of translating a couple of pages of our website amounts to £50 per language – this is a very low cost form of advertising. It also sends out the important message that we will welcome overseas visitors.”

In addition to Jurassic Coast brochures in Dutch, French, German and Spanish, there is a whole website dedicated to promoting Dorset at www.dorset-newforest.com to French and German speaking visitors. Links to these sites from the Dream Cottages home page is free and gives a wealth of detail to prospective visitors.
