Revelation Events success in the Middle East

Revelation (event management) Limited, the Bristol based corporate event management company, expanded its operations in the last year with the opening of Revelation (event management) Middle East in the United Arab Emirates.

The new business arm located in the prestigious Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi, produces and manages various events including exhibition stands, conferences and award ceremonies for ADNEC itself, their founding partners; dmg World Media, Turret Middle East and CMPi and a number of locally based international companies. Language understanding and cultural awareness have been critical factors in the success of Revelation’s market development in the Middle East.

This is demonstrated by the company’s pivotal role in the recent event organisation of the World Future Energy Summit 2009 based in Abu Dhabi which attracted world leaders and over 16,000 participants from around the globe.

Revelation Event Management, due to celebrate their tenth birthday next month, started in Bristol and expanded to the Middle East in 2008, now employing twenty two people across both offices. 20% of total revenue comes from the new business development.

Catherine French, Revelation Event Management director sought advice from the Regional Language Network SW (RLN SW) and attended the “Doing Business in the Middle East” business seminar organised by the RLN SW West of England hub at the University of the West of England.

“It has been really important for us to research the market and to understand the cultural ways of doing things in the Middle East. Our team in Abu Dhabi are proficient in Arabic and other languages and our UK team has found great value in taking part in cultural training sessions organised by Somerset business, Kwintessential.

“These have helped them have a greater understanding of business practices in the Middle East and work better with their colleagues in the Abu Dhabi office. We also use
dual translations on our Middle East website. We recognised that the Middle East was going to be a major market for us and Abu Dhabi has proven the ideal vibrant location.”
