South West Case Studies -
new in 2009
The following case studies of companies in the South West were added in January 2009:
Calder Originals
Nick Comer-Calder founded Calder Originals in 2003 to make hand crafted carrying cases for treasured musical instruments and laptops. When the company planned to target overseas markets, RLN SW supported Nick in translating his website and marketing materials.
Cuddledry
Cuddledry is an award winning Somerset firm that found national acclaim for its unique, quality, organic baby bath towels. With early advice from UKTI and RLN SW, the company founders have been able to make export decisions sooner rather later and with greater confidence, knowing their approach to global markets was the right one.
Exmoor Trim
This third generation family business based in Williton in Somerset is the UK’s leading specialists in hood, seat and interior trim for a range of vehicles and military products. Advice was sought from RLN SW as to how best to improve international communications in support of business growth.
Fish n Fritz
Weymouth’s award winning fish and chip licensed restaurant and take away, Fish n Fritz, has long enjoyed business from overseas visitors. RLN SW recommended a number of initiatives to offer a more friendly welcome to visitors from abroad and foreign students, such as translating menus into several languages, and more.
Jurassic Coast
England’s first natural World Heritage Site on the Dorset and East Devon coast attracts visitors from an increasing range of countries as well as the traditional markets of France, Holland, Germany and Spain. The Jurassic Coast team sought assistance from RLN SW in ways to further improve the welcome to overseas visitors both in their pre trip planning and during their stay.
Portland Port
As one of the largest man made harbours in the world, Portland Port has seen a significant increase in cruise calls in recent years with six cruise ship visits in 2008. Keen to attract German ship owners and cruise operators, Port managers initially contacted RLN SW in 2006 to advise on translating technical support details into German (see previous Portland Port case study).
Since then, RLN SW has collaborated in several events and provided further assistance to provide a warm welcome to German cruise ships.
Revelation (event management) Limited
Revelation (event management) Limited, the Bristol based corporate event management company, expanded its operations in the last year with the opening of Revelation (event management) Middle East in the United Arab Emirates.
